Finished lubricants combine base oils and additives to meet market specifications. Higher quality finished lubricants standards are causing rapid growth in synthetic lubricants. This creates higher quality ULO which benefits us as a re-refiner making base oil from ULO.
Most synthetic lubricants are comprised of Group III base oil (versus Groups IV or V). During use primarily the additives break down; the underlying base oil molecules are left substantially intact. Our low severity process treats molecules gently, preserving their high quality and enabling over 50% of our output to be Group III base oils.
Finished lubricants are divided into two approximately equal market segments, Transportation and Industrial lubricants.
